MA Lighting at Prolight + Sound 2017: New software releases and MA Network Switch in focus

At this year’s Prolight and Sound exhibition in Frankfurt, MA Lighting will highlight the latest features and functionality of its dynamic range of lighting control solutions at the booths C51 and C61 in hall 3.0.

MA Lighting’s dot2 series, shows off its latest and newest software release - version 1.3. A host of new and exciting features will allow users to work even faster and more intuitively than before. Web remote access, more master speed fader, increased effects functionality, high priority playbacks and many more enhancements are now incorporated. The dot2 support team – including many real dot2 users - will be on hand to answer questions and introduce all the new features.

grandMA2 parties with Finland: Centenary celebration in Helsinki gathered more than 100.000 spectators

Finland became an independent state on 6th December 1917. To celebrate this important moment in the country’s history a huge crowd of more than 100.000 spectators gathered at the turn of the year at Kansalaistori Square in Helsinki. The theme of Finland’s centenary celebration year is “Together”.  Visual Designer Eero Helle created his design for this event name “Finland 100 Grand Opening” by relying on 3 x grandMA2 light, 1 x grandMA2 fader wing, 4 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit) and MA 3D for previsualisation.

grandMA2 onPC for “Enchanted: Forest of Light”: Interactive nighttime experience relies on MA’s software solution

In a season filled with holiday light displays, Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge, Los Angeles has debuted “Enchanted: Forest of Light,” a unique, interactive nighttime experience. Visitors enjoy a one-mile walk through eight distinct lighting displays in some of the Gardens’ most beloved areas. 6 x grandMA2 onPC stations were selected to control the lighting and interactivity for the majority of the displays. Descanso Gardens is a botanic garden open to the public and nationally accredited as a “museum of living collections.”

Encore Dunhuang debuts with grandMA2: Tradition meets technology

Immersive Chinese theatre work Encore Dunhuang debuted at the first Silk Road Dunhuang International Cultural Expo and was directed by Wang Chaoge, co-director of the stunning opening ceremony for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

For lighting control LD Wang Yugang used 4 x grandMA2 light consoles, 2 x MA onPC command wing, 4 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit), 2 x MA VPU plus MK2 (Video Processing Unit) and 10 x MA 2Port Nodes.

Aarhus celebrates its European Capital of Culture 2017 with MA: grandMA2 performed flawlessly

With one of the largest community participation events ever held in Denmark, Aarhus recently celebrated its inauguration as one of the two European Capitals of Culture 2017.

The opening ceremony was created by artistic director, Nigel Jamieson, one of the world’s leading creators of theatre and large-scale events. Working with Berlin-based creative production company battleROYAL, lighting designer and programmer Chris Moylan was asked to create a lighting design representative of this landmark event. Using 2 x grandMA2 full-size, 2 x grandMA2 light, 6 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit) and 1 x MA onPC command wing as back-up Moylan controlled a show with more than 600 fixtures.

Opeth counts on grandMA2: Swedish metal on tour

As part of their European journey, Swedish metal band Opeth opted for a single show at Wembley Arena for their UK audience. Magnus Boyd has been lighting the band for the last eighteen months. The show at Wembley was a part of the “Sorceress” World Tour. The first portion started in the US with twenty shows and continued in Europe – all the time accompanied by 1 x grandMA2 light and 2 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit).
