grandMA2 dances at UNITE event: World premiere festival experience

Tomorrowland is one of the world’s highest profile electronic music festivals, gathering over 400.000 people at the main site in Belgium, and connecting an additional 70.000 people at multiple remote venues through the UNITE event. UNITE are events organised in different countries and connected via a live satellite broadcast with Tomorrowland Belgium. 

This year UNITE shared three hours of live HD video broadcast feeds featuring performances from the main stage in Belgium, with remote live parties in Germany, Malta, Dubai, Israel, South Korea and Lebanon. At each location grandMA2 consoles were in control. In Belgium 13 x grandMA2 full-size, 8 x grandMA2 light, 1 x grandMA2 ultra-light, 2 x grandMA2 fader wing, 2 x MA onPC command wing and 1 x MA onPC fader wing were used. Read more...

Phil Collins returns with grandMA2: Far from being dead

What Philip David Charles "Phil" Collins has achieved in his life so far is definitely impressive: he is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, record producer and actor. He was the drummer and later the lead singer of iconic progressive rock band Genesis, and afterwards became a highly successful solo artist. After being absent from the stage for some years, Collins returned with his recent short but impressive “Not Dead Yet Live” tour which played London, Dublin, Cologne and Paris.

Patrick Woodroffe together with Roland Greil as the associate designer were responsible for the lighting design of this tour that Roland accompanied as programmer and lighting director using 2 x grandMA2 full-size, 1 x grandMA2 light and 5 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit). Read more...

grandMA2 for Classical Spectacular: In good tradition

For nearly thirty years, Durham Marenghi has been lighting Raymond Gubbay’s Classical Spectacular show. His designs for this production have enthralled audiences at the Royal Albert Hall for decades as he describes: “Classical Spectacular has developed from an all Parcan rig with me operating on a Celco Gold to the addition of Vari*Lites on an Artisan desk. I believe that we had the first Vari*Lite fixtures outside of Rock ‘n’ Roll from the VL1 upwards, through the LSD Icon control and fixtures and then on to a full automated system controlled by a grandMA from MA Lighting.” Read more...

grandMA2 for Mall of Qatar: Multiple show possibilities

The Mall of Qatar is a shopping centre that opened in December 2016 in Doha, Qatar. The mall, which is the equivalent size of 50 football pitches with over 500 stores, is the nation’s largest mall. It also features mall-wide live entertainment with a professional live theatre and 360 degree acts and shows performed on a multi-lift rotating stage. For the stage’s lighting control, 1 x grandMA2 light, 1 x grandMA2 replay unit, 1 x MA onPC command wing, 1 x MA VPU plus MK2 (Video Processing Unit), 4 x MA Network Switch, 2 x MA NPU (Network Processing Unit), 12 x MA 2Port Node and 2 x MA 4Port Node are used. grandMA2 Insider Tip

Did you know that...

... there are now additional store filters to store every position preset or cue either with Pan/Tilt or XYZ values. This option can be changed in the Store options.
Depending on the option selected, position values will be:
Active position mode: Stores position data as they are (as Pan/Tilt or XYZ values)
XYZ: Converts and stores position data as XYZ values
Pan/Tilt: Converts and stores position data as Pan/Tilt values
