[Hasta el momento sólo en inglés] In every sense a great show: grandMA pico excelled in Singapore’s Art House
08.10.2007
“Senses - A Rediscovery” is a full length dance production staged by eight choreographers from Singapore’s Dance Horizon Troupe. The performance creates a journey through the rediscovery of the five senses; smell, sight, taste, hearing and touch. Placed in the Arts House the show used a grandMA pico. Jonathan Lin designed the lighting with Yap Seok Hui at his side as programmer. Henry NG Chay Kuang was the artistic director of the show.
Sin was full of praise for MA Lighting: “This show was heavily pre-programmed using grandMA onPC and grandMA 3D. It saved more than a few hours of programming time and enabled us to be more confident going into the show on the first day, knowing that the bulk of the performance was already programmed and all it needed was a little bit of tweaking here and there. We found out that grandMA 3D was much more powerful than we thought as it gave another source of backup for the main show file and was not just visualising the DMX output. I'm very pleased with the outcome and look forward to future shows using the MA system.”
Hui explained his experiences with the grandMA: “It was my first encounter with programming intelligent lighting fixtures, thus I was glad that the MA technology was very user-friendly. Using grandMA onPC felt like programming on an actual console. It was extremely useful to be able to create palettes for the different focus positions, colours, effects and macros that could be recorded and tracked for all lighting cues. The grandMA pico is definitely a very handy console for shows of a smaller scale, like this one. Its functions were more than sufficient for the needs of such a show. The possibility to use two DMX universes in the case of more lights being needed, allows for flexibility and convenience in terms of creating performances in different venues. It is great to know that MA has set up an Asia Pacific office in Singapore, which makes MA more accessible to the technical theatre practitioners in the industry.”
