Obituary for Markus Janning

We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of our colleague Markus Janning, who passed away on 19 August 2025 in hospital surrounded by his family.

Markus embodied and internalised, like no other, what defines our industry and our people business worldwide: an enthusiasm for light, design and emotions, as well as solidarity, openness, warmth and humanity.

He was not only a professional with a high level of expertise, he was above all an exceptionally likeable person. His helpfulness, patience and humour made every encounter with him a pleasure.
Those who had the privilege of working with Markus remember not only his impressive expertise, but also the many moments of light-heartedness, laughter and genuine camaraderie.

His career took him to major productions in Germany and around the world. His expertise was in demand in live entertainment, TV, theatre and at many trade fairs and events. As an operator, trainer and technical contact, he was an indispensable companion for many colleagues and partners.

With the passing of Markus Janning, the lighting industry has lost a valued colleague, loyal friend and passionate companion. He will be remembered for his countless projects, memories and in the hearts of all those who had the good fortune to know him.
